SwiftGrid use case

Bulk Edit WooCommerce Product Variations

To edit the variations of many WooCommerce products at once, open SwiftGrid, set the product type filter to Variations, and edit prices, stock, SKUs and other fields for every variation in one grid.

Who This Is For

Your catalog has variable products with sizes or colors, and the same change has to reach a variation on many of them. Examples: set the price of every XL, or change the stock of every Oat variation.

Steps in SwiftGrid

  1. Open SwiftGrid and set the product type filter to Variations. The grid lists the variations of every variable product, one per row. Each row shows its attributes, such as Color: Oat / Size: M, with the parent product’s name under it.
  2. Narrow the list with the status, category, stock status and tag filters, or with the search box.
  3. Edit the cells you need: SKU, regular price, sale price, stock quantity, stock status, weight, length, width, height, shipping class, tax class and image.
  4. To give several variations the same image, tick their rows and click Assign Image.
  5. Click Save Changes, or press Ctrl+S or Cmd+S. Edited cells stay highlighted until then, and Discard Changes drops them.

Editing Inside One Product

With the type filter on All types or Variable product, use the expand control on a variable product’s row to show its variations under it. You edit them with the same columns, in place.

What Is Free and What Is Pro

Free Inline variation editing, cross-product variation mode, and bulk variation images, with no product limit.

Pro Variation generation. For one product, the Generate Variations button on its row creates the variations that do not exist yet. Generate Missing Variations does the same across a selection. It builds the missing combinations from the variation attributes the product already has, using WooCommerce’s own generator.

SwiftGrid Pro is not on sale yet. The signup below is how you hear when it is. See what is in Pro on the SwiftGrid page.

Compared With Native WooCommerce

In WooCommerce, variations live on each product’s edit screen, under the Variations tab. The bulk actions there (for example setting regular prices or increasing them by an amount or percentage) work on one product’s variations at a time, and each product needs its own visit and Save. Changing the same variation on 40 products is 40 edit screens.

SwiftGrid shows the variations of all those products in one list. Generating variations natively uses the Generate variations button on the same Variations tab, one product at a time.

Limits

  • SwiftGrid does not edit attributes. Change a product’s attributes on its edit screen, then generate or edit the variations here.
  • Variation status and descriptions cannot be edited in the grid.
  • The cell calculator works on one cell at a time.
